FAQ

  • What can I do to prepare for my tattoo appointment?

-No alcohol or caffeine 48 hours before your appointment. These can thin your blood and cause excessive bleeding during the procedure.

-Avoid tanning or spending prolonged time in the sun at least two weeks before your tattoo appointment.

-For a week before the procedure, avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, or blood-thinning supplements (e.g., fish oil and vitamin E).

-Discontinue Retin-A and alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) products at least four weeks before your appointment, as these can make your skin more sensitive.

-Wash your hair on the day of the appointment as you will not be able to get your brows wet in the shower for a minimum of 5 days

-Avoid working out 24 hours prior to tattoo, this increases circulation.

-Do not inject botox or fillers minimum 2 weeks prior to tattoo

-If you have had previous work done please inform me and send a picture. I might recommend removal prior to adding more pigment.

  • What should I expect during the healing process?

Day 1- Your brows will be super fresh and warm in tone. The pigment colour may look darker than you expected for the next 2-3 days. The tattooed area will feel a little tender and you may experience some minor swelling/redness for the first 24 hrs. It is normal for the tattooed area to begin to weep with lymph (a normal wound healing response, please blot this every 15-30 minutes for the first 4 hours

Days 2-4: Your brows will darken, keep calm this is NOT the final colour! Rest assured this dark pigment will settle after a few days and the healed outcome is up to 60% lighter than how your brows look during this process.

Days 3-5: Your brows start to peel and flake and they may feel itchy. This is a natural part of your skin’s healing process and you’ll want to avoid picking or itching. Some peeling may occur and your brows may look patchy at this stage.

Days 6-10: As the skin begins to heal and most of the peeling and flaking is complete your brow pigment will become lighter. Your skin becomes opaque covering the pigment underneath, and will turn transparent over the next 6 weeks showing the true density and colour of your tattoo.

  • What to avoid after my tattoo procedure?

-Touching the treated area can increase the risk of infection and disrupt healing.

-Avoid applying makeup, sunscreen, or skincare products to the treated area for at least a week.

-Sleeping on your face can put pressure on the treated area and interfere with healing.

-Avoid swimming, hot tubs, or saunas for at least 10–14 days. Do not take hot showers.

-Avoid activities that cause sweating, like exercise, or saunas. Sweating can cause the ink to fade or become patchy.

-Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for at least a week. Tanned or sunburned skin is more sensitive and can affect pigment absorption.

-Avoid facials, botox, chemical treatments, or microdermabrasion for at least four weeks.

  • Do I need to purchase anything prior to my appointment?

You will be given aftercare healing cream, but will need to use distilled water and lint free cotton pads to pat clean the tattoo prior to adding a thin layer of healing cream with a Q-Tip. You can purchase the distilled water, cotton pads, and Q-Tips if you don’t have them at any major retailer.

It would also be a good idea to have facial cleansing wipes readily available to use. It will be difficult to wash the face without getting the treated area wet.

  • What is the proper step-by-step aftercare?

After the procedure, every 30 minutes for gently blot the area with a dampened lint free cotton pad with distilled water to absorb excess lymph fluid. Do this as needed in the day until the oozing has stopped. This is normal but the fluid must be cleaned off so that the secretion does not crust and block the skin from breathing.

Once the excess lymph has stopped, apply a very thin layer of healing ointment given to you. Feel free to clean and re apply as many times as needed throughout the day. Many people find 2-3 times daily is enough. When cleaning the brows Continue this process for roughly 5 days or when the brows start to scab.

The most important part of healing for any tattoo is to avoid picking the scabs. When the brows start to scab, you want to dry heal, so stop using the ointment.

  • Should I wash my lash extensions?

    Yes!!

You should wash your lashes every day with a gentle foam cleanser and a soft brush (I have used a synthetic eyeshadow blending brush and it works great). If you want to really get in there, you can use micellar water and a microfiber brush to clean the skin in between the lashes.

Please do not show up to your appointment with makeup on your eyes. Do not use eyeliner or mascara on your extensions for best retention.
